Outdoor Air Conditioner Cover Australia
Did you know that some outdoor AC units on balconies are a climbing hazard for children?
National Construction Code (NCC)
With the increasing number of families living in apartment blocks, many of these multi-storey residential buildings have external balconies and decks that contain air-conditioning condenser units. These could be deemed a climbing hazard for young children, which are positioned close to the barrier resulting in a fall from the balcony or deck.
To comply with the NCC (which Vertical ACC do)
- Provide screens with non climbable elements around or in front of the air conditioner unit
- Provide 900mm non climbable zone from the top of the barrier (similar to swimming pool barrier)
- Ensure there are no fixed items between 150mm and 760mm above the floor within a horizontal dimension of 600mm within the inside face
- Ensure that any conduits, pipes, taps and hose cocks are placed behind guards
